Róisín Gad el Rab started out her career as a journalist, working for newspapers in Chester and London before deciding to study law. 

Qualified in May 2016, Róisín has experience in Claimant and Defendant defamation claims, providing pre-publication and pre-action advice, assisting in media regulatory matters and has assisted in several phone hacking claims. She regularly deals with a wide variety of civil and commercial litigation matters, assists in private client criminal case and is currently representing one of the families in the Grenfell Tower Inquiry. 

Róisín has acted in a number of high-profile cases – for actors, politicians, sports personalities amongst others and most recently acted in the successful defence of a landmark defamation claim, the first full test of the Defamation Act 2013 Section 4 Public Interest defence at Trial (Alexander Economou v David de Freitas [2016]). The judgment was later upheld by the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court has declined to hear a further appeal. 

Róisin is on the referral panel for the Centre For Women’s Justice, assisting with related defamation matters where possible.

In her spare time, Róisin is a music journalist.
